Mr. Karan Kumar was born & brought up in Bengaluru. He did his Engineering & later moved to National Institute of Advance Studies for further studies & research projects. In 1994, at the instance of Renowned Scientist Dr. Raja Ramanna, he happened to join JRD TATA's National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), IISc Campus, Bengaluru, as a Research Associate in the field of Education & Management. Later, he also got associated with many research projects of Department of Science & Technology (DST) including a socio-economic research project.
During his schooling, he was actively involved in sports, NCC (National Cadet Corps) & working for the good cause of student community. A recipient of Republic Day Gold Medal from the President of India in the year 1988, for being the best NCC Naval Cadet, Mr. Karan Kumar has obtained A, B & C Certifications during his seven-year association with NCC.
Along with his studies, he started his career working as a part-time Ship Modelling Instructor (SMI) during the period between 1989 & 1993 at Jawahar Bal Bhavan, Bengaluru. Interestingly, between 1997 & 98, he was also a NEWS Reader & has read more than 120 news bulletins for Udaya NEWS in its early days.
Later in 1999, he joined hands with few others in promoting a company, which was into IT & IT Enabled Services. He then joined hands with CBay Systems; US based multi-national company, as its Business Head in India. He was responsible for CBay Systems India's overall business operations, strategy and management. Under his leadership and guidance, the Company could build futuristic technology solutions and provide state of the art services. During his tenure as Business Head of CBay Systems till 2011, Mr. Karan Kumar has inducted & mentored hundreds of professionals.
Mr. Karan Kumar is the co-founder for recent start-up companies like OrbiNet Technologies, Intact Green Services (IGS), Medtran Software Solutions, Green Quest Carbon Trading & others, which are into various business verticals like, transport, healthcare, education, telecom, information technologies & green service initiatives. He has worked as a Consultant in various domestic & MNC organizations. Mr. Kumar has expertise in managing multi-location projects, building technology solutions and providing recruitment, management & business process consulting in India. He has successfully built up marketing & business development functions in several companies.
By & large, he was responsible for overall company management other than overseeing the strategy and lending direction to the overall operations of the companies he worked. His drive and leadership are primarily instrumental for the smooth implementation of Company's policies and programs. Mr. Kumar was also responsible for financial strategy, legal matters & investor relations of companies he has associated.
Mr. Karan Kumar brings on board more than 12 years of experience in project management, finance and corporate relations. He has the experience of serving & managing both academic and private sector companies. He is also Director in Pace Telesoft, Pacecom Technologies, which are catering to different industry verticals in India & worldwide till date.
Mr. Karan Kumar enjoys the association of many leading academic institutions, renowned academicians & corporate bodies. At his personal capacity, he is associated with many social & educational groups and has contributed to their good cause. As an individual, he wishes to continue his association with organisations that are into social, rural & educational progress and contribute to their good cause in a minimal way. Otherwise, in their academic & governing bodies, Mr. Kumar is associated with some of the reputed educational institutions in the state of Karnataka.
Currently, he is successfully heading the IT Consulting & Infrastructure Management Group - Shruth & Smith Holdings in managing its group companies as its ‘Chief Mentor’. He is also associated, as a Trustee, with Centre for Standards in Public Life (CSPL), United for Standards in Public Life (USPL) & Shruth & Smith Foundation
Incidentally, he is a member of the ‘Academic Council’ of Bangalore University.
